Darrell Kitchens

Funeral services for Darrell Kitchens, 64, of Lubbock and formerly of Smyer will be at 3:00 pm, Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Experience Life Church at 1313 13th Street, Lubbock. Burial will follow in the Smyer Cemetery, Smyer, Texas. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. He died on October 21, 2013 in Lubbock.

Darrell was born on August 29, 1949 to Charlie Alton and Lois (Hoffman) Kitchens. He graduated from Whiteface High School in 1967 and attended Texas Tech. He was ginner for Paymaster Gin and South Smyer Coop Gin and then United Cotton Growers. He was voted Texas Coop Ginner of the Year in 1997 by the Texas Agricultural Cooperative. Darrell served on the Smyer School Board for approximately 10 years and served as president of the board. He was a licensed pilot. He married Susan St. Clair on May 1, 1970 in Smyer and she preceded him in death on September 22

of this year.

Survivors include his son: Jared Kitchens and his wife, Jennifer of Lubbock; his daughter: Angela Clarkson and her husband, Michael of Abernathy, two sisters: Clarice Miller and her husband Ray of Lubbock, and Shirley Green and her husband, James of Springlake, Michigan; and his grandchildren: Nikolas, Easton, Avery, and Jude.The family suggests memorials to your local Ag Youth Chap-ters.
