David Swackhammer

Celebration of Life Services for David Swackhammer, 59, of Levelland, will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Fifth St. Baptist Church, Levelland with Rev. Roy Prather, pastor, and Rev. Merle Fulmer, Lubbock, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in City of Levelland Cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home. He died August 14, 2011.

Born in Roswell, New Mexico to Harold and Evelyn Cochrum Swackhammer, he attended schools in Clovis where he graduated from Clovis High School. He attended Northwestern State College in Alva, Oklahoma. He married Joyce Schiller on May 4, 1973 in Clovis, New Mexico. They moved to Levelland in 1984 from Hobbs, New Mexico and they opened K-Bob’s Steakhouse. It was later changed to Cattlelacs. In 2007 they opened Swackhammer’s Texas Grill.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Swackhammer of Levelland; two daughters: Shelley Gibbs and her husband, Virgil of Levelland and Stacey Mitchell and her husband, Brandon of Wolfforth, Texas; a sister, Sandra Bolds of Roswell, New Mexico and brother: Steve Swackhammer of Lubbock, Texas and six grandchildren: Brooke Thetford, Bladen Samaniego, Jackson Gibbs, Britton Mitchell, Hunter Gibbs and Stetson Gibbs.
