Dick M. Lawson

Funeral Services for Dick Murray (Richard) Lawson will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 3:30pm at the Christ United Methodist Church in Levelland, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 6pm to 8pm at George Price Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of George Price Funeral Home.

Dick was born January 24th 1933 in Matador, Teas to Alton and Alyce Lawson and passed away at his home north of Levelland with his family at his side on October 27, 2013. He came to Pettit, Texas at 6 months of age in the summer of 1933 where his dad was breaking out new farmland. He was an avid reader as a young boy and spent many hours on the back of a horse with a fine dog named Tuffy. He graduated Levelland High School early at age 16 and enrolled at Texas Tech U

university. He joined the Navy in 1952 and served as an aircraft mechanic. After his military service he came home to help his dad on the farm and soon met the love of his life Mona Dale (Davidson) Lawson, they were married December 20th 1956 and started their young family. He was a man who shared generously from his heart in a humble manner, especially with those down on their luck a little. He was always straight forward, genuine and you always knew where you stood with him.

He is survived by his wife Mona Lawson, son Jerry Paul Lawson, daughter Kay Lynn Lawson (deceased) son Alton Lea (Bunk) Lawson and his wife Carol Lawson, Daughter Leslie Lawson Lang and her husband Richard, his sister: Jo Helen Harrell of Olton, Texas; hisgrandkids: Joshua Lawson, Jordan Lawson, A.J. Lawson, Shane Lawson, Jessica Lawson, Jason Lang, Brian Lang and Kara Lang who will serve as pall bearers as well as nephew Brian Davidson. Honorary pall bearers are Joel Davidson, Ron Davidson who are beloved brothers in law and Neil Guthrie his lifelong friend.

Donations in his honor may be sent to Children’s Hope, South Plains Food Bank, Christ United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
