Wenonah was born May 8, 1919 in Oklahoma, the daughter of Clyde and Myrtle (Paregien) Kendrick. She married Gerald Buit Thompson in 1940 in Madill, Oklahoma. Gerald passed away in 1970. Wenonah liked to sew, cook and take care of a garden. She married Manford Saunders in 1985 in Floydada, Texas. He passed away in 2001. Mrs. Saunders taught English as a Second Language in Madill, Oklahoma, and for the Floydada Independent School District for fifteen years. Wenonah was the recipient of a National Teaching Award in Atlanta, Georgia for English as a Second Language. She was past president of the Home Economics Club.
She is survived by her son; Raymond (Ray) Doyle Thompson, her daughter;Wanda (Deannie) Gerald-ine Thompson, both of Lub-bock, Texas, one sister; Wanda Jean King of Madill, Oklahoma, a nephew; Roy Ward and his wife Mary Ann of Ft. Worth, Texas and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald and Manford, two brothers; Walter Kendrick and Wendell Kendrick, one sister; Mary Juanita Kendrick, and one nephew; Kevin Kendrick.
