

Graveside services for James D. Tindel, 81, of Levelland, Texas will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Levelland, Texas. Full military honors will be performed by the U.S. Army, Ft. Hood, Texas. Services are under direction of George Price Funeral Home, Levelland, Texas.
James was born on April 21, 1930 in Lone Oak, Texas to Benjamin Franklin and Pauline (Truss) Tindel. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1949 and served his country for twenty years before retiring in 1969. He married Bertha Riddle on March 11, 1952 in Lovington, New Mexico. In October of 1969, he moved to Levelland, where he went to work as a mechanic for Gentry Ford-Mercury and he retired in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha Tindel of Levelland, Texas; three sons: Carl Tindel of Orlando, Florida, Thomas Tindel of Levelland, Texas and Danny Tindel of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Janice Pepitone of Lewisville, Texas; three sisters: Opal Cooper of Levelland, Texas; Paula Snider and Connie Wood, both of Dallas, Texas; three brothers: Troy Tindel of Commerce, Texas, Benny Tindel of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and Johnny Tindel of Memphis, Tennessee; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
