

Kent Cooper. 82, of Lubbock and formally of Levelland went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 18, 2014. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at George Price Funeral Home, Levelland, Texas. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Park Drive Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Gil Ramirez, burial will follow in City of Levelland Cemetery, under the direction of George Price Funeral Home, Levelland, Texas.
Kent was born April 8, 1932 to Lonzo and Ollie (Davenport) Cooper in Hockley County. He attended Levelland schools and was a member of Park Drive Baptist Church. He married Doyce Batteas on February 14, 1952. Kent farmed in Hockley and Bailey counties. He was a County Commissioner and election judge in Hockley County and was a member of the Farmer’s Union. He loved to play dominoes, drink coffee at McDonald’s and enjoyed being ornery to those he cared about. He was ordained a deacon at Fairview Baptist Church and served both Fairview and Park Drive Baptist Church as a deacon.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doyce Cooper, his daughters, Molly Howell and husband Doug, and Kenna Cooper, and daughter –in-law, Mary Cooper; one brother Gordon Cooper; three sisters, Norma Walker, Mary Cooper and Ollie Whitener; six grand-children and eleven great-grandchildren. Kent was preceded in death by one son, Rod Cooper, his parents and three brothers, Gernie, Garvin and Dan Cooper. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hockley County Senior Citizens, 1202 Houston Street, Levelland, Texas 79336, Park Drive Baptist Church, P.O. Box 353 Levelland, Texas 79336 or to a favorite charity. Kent’s fam-ily would like to thank Wilshire on 4th for the tender loving care they provided to him. Kent’s family would also like to thank Russell Bednarz, the Wilson Fire Department and all who helped during Kent’s final moments.
