

Lou Wayne Rogers went to be with the Lord on June 3, 2011 at 9:30 am at the age of 92. She was born April 1, 1919 in Coleman, Texas, the fourth daughter of eight children born to William Jessie and Corena Boyd. She and her family moved to the Clauene and Whitharral areas in the early 1930’s. She married Berkley John Rogers of Levelland on March 24, 1935. He preceded her in death December 28, 1984. They lived in Mineral Wells, Levelland, Las Vegas, NM, Granbury, Texas, Portales, NM, Carlsbad and Weed, NM. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Portales, New Mexico. Lou Wayne was an avid sports fan; especially, football, basketball and rodeo and was an accomplished seamstress.
Survivors include, her son Rodney Rogers and his wife, Katherine, of Levelland; a daughter: Linda Berry and her husband, Ray of Weed, New Mexico, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; a sister Laverne Palmer and her husband, Euel of Levelland. She was preceded in death by her parents, her youngest daughter, Johnnie Rogers, three sisters; Reba Barton, Veda Boyd and Lorene Mapp and two brothers, Otis Boyd and Earl Boyd.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in George Price Funeral Chapel, Levelland with Rev. Carl Morman , pastor and Terry Ewing, minister of music, First Baptist Church, Brownfield, officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
