Dr. Martha "Dr. D" Anne Megason Darnell

Funeral services for Dr. Martha Anne “Dr.D” Darnell, 68, of Levelland, Texas will be 1:30 pm, Monday, June 6, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Levelland with Dr. Sammy Elliott, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 am, MDT, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Restlawn Memorial Park, El Paso, Texas. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Services are under direction of George Price Funeral Home, Levelland, Texas. She died June 2, 2011 at her home. She was under care of Legacy of Love Hospice.

She was raised in East Texas and then grew up in El Paso, Texas. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, Texas. She went on and earned her Master’s Degree from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. Anne gained her Doctorate from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas. She moved to Levelland in 1995. She retired after 33 years in Texas Education with 16 years as an administrator for Levelland ISD.

Survivors include her son: Tom Darnell and his wife, Sandy of Levelland, Texas; a brother: John Megason of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters; Margaret Lee Begley of Bakersfield, California and Mary Louise Everhart and her nephew and niece, James and Megan Everhart, all of Lubbock, Texas, two nephews; Brant Megason of El Paso, and Robert Begley of Upland, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Henry Darnell in 1974 and by her oldest brother: James Robert Megason in 1957.
