Mary Lou Emma Edwards

Services for Mary Lou Emma Edwards will be held Thursday March 27, 2014 At 2 pm in the George Price Funeral Home Chapel in Leveland, Texas. Visitation will be Wednesday Marcy 26, 2014 from 6pm to 8 pm at George Price Funeral Home. Lou Emma passed away on March 24, 2014 at the age of 96.

One of 8 children, Lou Emma was born August 29, 1917 on Harmon OK to Elizabeth Metcalf Burrus and M.D. Burrus. She was married to R.E. (CY) Edwards on December 11, 1937, until his death on August 17, 1971. Lou Emma worked for the Whitharral and Levelland School Districts for 40 years driving buses, working in the lunch room and later as a teacher’s aide for special needs children. She was a long time member of the Whitharral Baptist Church.

Lou Emma is survived by one sister Nita Jo Lewis of Dekalb, Texas and three of her four children; Glen Edwards and wife Florien of Levelland, Shirley Breeden and husband John of Brownfield, and Mary Spruiell husband Howard of Center, Texas . She has nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Teresa and Kyle Minx of Waco, TX; bobby and John McQueen of Waynesville, MO; Becky and Freddit Haramillo of Farmington, NM; John Breeden III and Amanda of Midland, TX; Rodney and Christy Spruiell of Levelland, TX; Allen and Frances Spruiell of Center, TX; Greg and Stacey Spruiell of Center, TX; Susan and Larry Runnels of Benbrook, TX; Diann and John Merriman of Lubbock, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband CY, and son S.E. (Nubbin) Edwards; and all but one of her brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank the Levelland Nursing Home and Hospice of Levelland for all their hard work, loving care and compassion. The family request donations to the Whitharral Cemetery Fund - P.O. Box 1566- Levelland. in leiu of flowers.
