Mildred Atkins Meredith

Graveside services for Mildred Meredith, 90, of Levelland will be 2:00 pm, Monday, December 27, 2010 in Sundown Cemetery with Rev. D. J. Lewis, pastor, Fairview Baptist Church, Levelland, officiating. Burial will be under direction of George Price Funeral Home, Levelland. She died Wednesday, December 22, 2010.

She was born on January 29, 1920 in Commerce, Texas to James Franke and Ruby Parvin Atkins. She married Cecil Meredith on September 23, 1975 in Lubbock, Texas and he died in 1999. She moved to Sundown in July 1998 from Stamford, Texas where she had lived since 1963. She was a telephone operator in Plains, Texas and Benjamin, Texas, but owned and operated a thrift store in Stamford, Texas. She was active with the VFW Women’s Auxilliary. Mildred was preceded in death by a son: Olan Thomas McMinn in 2008, a daughter Laura Evelyn McMinn in 1942.

Survivors include two sons: Jerel McMinn and his wife Judy of Sundown, Texas and James McMinn and his wife Bernice of Odessa and a daughter in law: Marilyn McMinn of Cleveland, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.
