William Harvey "Bill" Bowers Jr.

Funeral Services are under the direction of George Price Funeral Home in Levelland, Texas and will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at George Price Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland, Texas with Reverend Larry Bowers officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Levelland Cemetery in Levelland, Texas.

Bill was born on December 4, 1939 in Abilene, Texas. He was the son of William Harvey and Ellen Louise (Nunnelly) Bowers, Sr.

Bill graduated from Levelland High School in 1959. During his time with the Lobos, he set a school record for the one mile run. He married Katie Mae Hoppe in Littlefield, Texas on July 15, 1961. Bill loved the game of golf and played whenever he could get away. He also enjoyed doing yardwork and making clay sculptures.

Bill was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Bill is survived by three daughters; Carla Kirkpatrick and her husband, Clendon of Artesia, New Mexico, Kathy Lunsford and her husband, Craig of Lubbock, Texas, and Kimberly Richburg of Artesia, New Mexico, two brothers; Larry Bowers and his wife, Betty of Gordonville, Texas, and Gerald Bowers and his wife, Connie of Arlington, Texas, two sisters; Olga McMurray of Arlington, Texas, and Judy Jones and her husband, David of Arlington, Texas, six grandchildren; Eric Kirkpatrick and his wife, Randi of Lubbock, Texas, Stephanie Kirkpatrick and Zachary Scott, both of Artesia, New Mexico, Steven Lunsford, Weston Lunsford and Joshua Richburg, all of Lubbock, Texas, one great-grandchild; Blaze Richburg of Lubbock, Texas, and his beloved dog, Shorty. He was preceded in death by his parents; William, Sr. and Ellen Bowers, his wife, Katie Bowers (1999) and one brother, Robert Bowers.
