Andy was born in Philadelphia to Ben and Jeanne (Addessa) Lipton in July of 1929. He met Connie on a blind date arranged by her sister's boyfriend when they were both 15 years old.
Andy enlisted into the US Army just two weeks after his 17th birthday. He was sent to Japan and stationed under General MacArthur in Tokyo.
Upon returning to civilian life, he reconnected with Connie and they were married in January 1949.
In 1957, Andy and his family, now with two kids became first time owners in the Highland Park section of Levittown. Soon after their arrival he opened a photo studio, Photos by Andre.
After many years he closed his business and thought he would retire; that turned out to be a bad idea. After two weeks he was bored and needed something to do. Middletown Township needed crossing guards. He applied and was hired. He loved every minute of it. But what to do in the summer? The day after school closed for the summer he went to work where his coworkers were: Elmo and Big Bird, Sesame Place. He did both for 16 years, then he really retired.
He discovered at age 70 that he had a passion for making greeting cards. From his computer he made thousands of cards with all of life's themes, ranging from new baby, new home, new job, get well, to condolences. Many of his cards have been saved and are in scrap books, framed on the wall, in Bibles, and hidden in drawers.
He and Connie moved to Juniper Village in 2014 where they made many new friends and became involved in a variety of activities. Andy was a faithful member of Neshaminy Valley Baptist Church.
Predeceased by his parents; his wife; his son, Michael, his daughter, Michele; his grandson, Lance, and his daughter-in-law, Linda; Andy is survived by his sons, John (Carm) and Christopher (Tracy), and his granddaughters Samantha and Hannah.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 12 Noon, with a funeral service to follow at 12 Noon, at the James J Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA 19056.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Andy's memory can be made to Neshaminy Valley Baptist Church. 2895 Bristol Road, Bensalem, PA 19020.
