Andrew J. "Andy" Mitchell Sr., of Langhorne was called home on Thursday, December 22, 2016. He was 71.Andy was born in Philadelphia and raised in Levittown where he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1963. He has been a long time resident of Langhorne.He was a 1967 graduate of the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia and went on to work as a graphic designer for nearly 50 years until retiring. During his career, he generously mentored many professionals in his field.A member of the Artists of Yardley, Andy was very creative and talented and was an avid watercolor artist. He also enjoyed decorative woodworking and had varied interests, seeing art and design in everything. He also had an appreciation of nature and the outdoors.Andy loved his family, and his grandchildren were his passion and his joy.Beloved husband of Gail M. Mitchell for 47 years, Andy is the loving father of Heather G. Murphy (John) and Andrew J. Mitchell Jr. (Kristen).He is the devoted grandfather of Samantha, Alexa, Kayla and Zachary and is the brother of Virginia Bux (Lawrence).Son of the late Andrew D. and Margaret V. Mitchell, Andy is the son-in-law of Dorothy M. and the late Bernard M. Goodwin.Family and friends are invited to call from 7 until 9 p.m. on Friday at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. Friends may also call from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at Emmaus Road Lutheran Church, 2185 Bristol Oxford Valley Road, Levittown, PA 19057 where his funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Newtown Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
