Barbara Jean Leone, a committed wife, a beloved mother, doting grandmother, new great grandmother, as well as a skilled, long-time hairdresser, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 22nd, 2024, in Jefferson Bucks Hospital in Levittown, Pennsylvania.
Barbara has joined her late daughter, Kellie Doyle, her late son, Robert Doyle, and her late parents, Irene, and Robert Malin. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Leone, her son Joseph Doyle II, her grandchildren Stephanie Bukowski, Julia Doyle, Joseph Doyle III, and her new great grandchild, Elizabeth Doyle.
Barbara was born March 20th, 1947, in Collingdale, Pennsylvania to Irene and Robert Malin. She was the daughter of an English war bride and a World War II veteran. From an early age, she was highly creative, liked to read and paint, enjoyed listening to music, and found her love for cutting and styling hair. She had her sons, Joseph Doyle II in 1965, Robert Doyle in 1970, and her daughter Kellie Doyle in 1976. She met her true love and remarried in 1982 to Charles Leone, who treated and raised her three children as if they were his own. Barbara was a loving and devoted wife to Charles for 42 wonderful years. Barbara’s children were particularly important to her, and she did anything and everything for them.
Barbara was an incredible hairdresser for over 50 plus years, and had many long-time, faithful customers who also became very close friends to her. She worked many years at a hair salon called The Butterfly Shop, later called Head Games Salon, located in Yardley, Pennsylvania. She cared very deeply for her coworkers and the owners she worked for. Even after Barbara retired, she continued to style the hair of several of her customers from home, as well as traveling to their houses.
After her daughter, Kellie Doyle, unexpectedly passed away in 2002 at the early age of 25 years old, Barbara took on Kellie’s orphaned 6-year-old daughter, Stephanie Bukowski, and raised her. Losing her daughter was not easy on Barbara, as losing a child never is, but Barbara raised her to be generous, caring, and strong, just like she was. To Barbara’s grandchildren, Joseph, Stephanie, and Julia, she was known as Mommom. She enjoyed spoiling and doting on her three beloved grandchildren.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck again for Barbara, when in 2022 she lost a second child, her loving son Robert Doyle, who is dearly missed.
Barbara was an extremely generous person and if she had it, she would always give it. Her loved ones often joked that if she ever won the lottery, that she would have given it all away. Barbara was also a huge sports fan and had a special love for football. Her Philadelphia Eagles were her reason for being. She enjoyed sitting in front of the television every Sunday to watch the game.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania 19056, followed by Words of Remembrance at 4:00 PM.
The family has asked that instead of receiving flowers etc., we would appreciate if you would please donate to the following organizations in Barbara’s memory to respect her battle with both COPD and heart failure:
