

Carmela F. Verderame, age 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 21, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. A longtime resident of Langhorne and Yardley, she was born on January 4,1925 in Philadelphia, PA and was the daughter of Elizabeth [Tolemeo] and Angelo Falcone. Carmela married Peter J. Verderame on September 19, 1948, and they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. During World War II, Carmela was employed at the Naval Air Center in Philadelphia. She was an avid gardener, cook, and mystery reader, but most of all, she loved being a wife, mother and grandmother to her large family. Carmela was beloved by her family, and will be remembered for her strength, determination and kindness. She was active in her community, serving in leadership positions in the Four Lanes' End Garden Club and was instrumental in organizing their yearly Holiday House Tour. She also served as an officer in the Lower Makefield Women's Club and the Piazza Nuova Sons of Italy Lodge #2665 of Yardley where she organized an annual scholarship fundraiser dinner-dance for many years. Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Christine and her husband David Walton of Hatboro; Marie Verderame and her husband, Lance Westbrook of Sudbury, MA and her sons, Liberato Verderame of Newtown; Anthony Verderame and his spouse, Antoinette Denucci of Furlong; and John Verderame of Avon, CO. She is also survived by grandchildren, Regina, Peter, Elizabeth, Sarah and her husband Matt Ogrodnik, Emma, Cole, Mason, Anthony, Alexis, Marissa, and Zachary. Carmela is predeceased by her daughter, Lorraine V. Fitzpatrick, late spouse of Leo Fitzpatrick. Calling hours will be on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 9:00 am- 10: 00 am, at Our Lady of Grace Church, 225 Bellevue Avenue, Penndel, PA, where her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM.
