
Chester P. "Chet" Sokolowski, of Fairless Hills, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 24, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 83. Mr. Sokolowski was born in Girardville, PA. He was a coal miner before moving to Fairless Hills in 1954, where he was employed with US Steel in the National Tube Division for 30 years. He was also a long time parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Church. Mr. Sokolowski was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post #960. In his earlier years, he played bass guitar in a country and western band. Mr.. Sokolowski loved the outdoors, especially fishing and was a life long member of the Penn Warner Club. He will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor and as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who truly enjoyed the quality time he spent with his family. Mr. Sokolowski was the beloved husband of Leona C. (Subach) for 62 years. He was the loving father of Linda Wint and her late husband George A., Dianne Rogers and her husband Jeff, and the late Chester Sokolowski and his surviving wife Barb. He was a devoted grandfather to Melanie Rodgers and her husband Kenny, Crystal Wint, the late George A. Wint, Jr, Steve Sokolowski, Jackie Sokolowski and Butch Sokolowski. He was the proud great grandfather of Brianna, Kylie, Kenny Jr. and Collin. He will be sadly missed by his dog and best friend, Buddy. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Jerry. Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 325 S. Oxford Valley Rd., Fairless Hills where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment is private.
