Dolores was born and raised in Forest City, Pennsylvania. She met the love of her life, Frank Carra Sr., while working in a shoe factory in town. They married and moved to Bucks County so Frank could work at US Steel in Tullytown. Together, they settled in the Golden Ridge neighborhood of Levittown, where they built their life, raised their sons, and created a home centered on family, faith, and community.
After retiring, Frank and Dolores returned to Forest City, the place where her story began, where she kept herself busy volunteering at Forest City Meals on Wheels, making Rosaries for St. Joseph’s Church Outreach Ministries, playing BINGO with her friends and making beautiful handmade baskets.
Dolores took immense pride in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, roles she considered her greatest blessings. In a heartfelt letter to her sons, she once wrote that she had never known a greater joy than becoming a grandmother, confident that one day they, too, would understand that special happiness. She was endlessly proud of her three boys and often wore three Eagle Scout pins to honor their shared accomplishment.
To the world, Dolores was known for her infectious laugh and the unmistakable sparkle in her eyes when she smiled. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved. Her kindness was genuine. She loved traveling and visiting with her family and friends every chance she could.
More than anything, Dolores believed in the importance of keeping people connected. For more than 60 years, she helped organize and continue the Doolittle family reunions, creating traditions that strengthened generations and formed memories that will last forever. Above all else, Dolores treasured the people she loved. Her gentle heart, unwavering faith, and devotion to family defined her life and will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Carra Sr.
She is survived by her three sons: Frank Carra Jr. and his wife Sandy (Gross) Carra, Dan Carra and his wife Sandy (Delano) Carra, and Mario Carra and his life partner, Ken Meyers.
Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Jim Carra and his fiancée Gabby Richardson, Becky Carra and her wife Sara (Kenyon) Carra, and Sarah (Carra) Tate-McCann and her husband Nathan Tate-McCann. She also left behind five great-grandchildren: Paisley Tate-McCann, Makayla Tate-McCann, Caleb Tate-McCann, Cooper Tate-McCann and Colton Carra, who brought her endless joy.
Dolores was also preceded in death by her parents, Cletus and Thelma (Rynearson) Doolittle; her sisters Bernadette (Doolittle) Slick and Julie (Doolittle) Tomazin; and her brothers Cletus Doolittle, Bill Doolittle and Art Doolittle. She is survived by her sister Thelma (Doolittle) Wright and her brother Jim Doolittle, with whom she shared lifelong bonds of love and family tradition. She leaves behind a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends that she held dear.
After the passing of her husband, Dolores found companionship and comfort in her beloved dog, Molly, who remained faithfully by her side and brought great warmth to her days.
Dolores will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Rd, Levittown, PA.
Future burial services will be held on April 11th 2026, in Forest City Pennsylvania. Exact location and time are to be determined.
