Born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1939, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Bereniece Tenney. Dorothy was proudly married for 57 years to her childhood sweetheart, Henry W. Nusser, Jr. Together, they moved to Levittown in 1960, where they built a beautiful life and home for their growing family.
After raising her children, Dorothy spent 10 years working at Union Fidelity Insurance Company before following her dream of opening Dana Lynn’s Bridal Boutique, where she found joy in helping couples celebrate one of the most important days of their lives. After retiring from the bridal business, she worked alongside her husband and his business, H. Nusser Roofing and Siding, and later supported her son when he took over the business.
Dorothy’s greatest joy was her family. She never missed a sporting event or dance recital, always cheering loudly from the sidelines — a tradition she lovingly continued with her grandchildren. She cherished time on the go and had a deep love for adventure and togetherness, including camping and boating adventures, island vacations with family and friends, and getaways to the Poconos and Niagara Falls in the motorhome. Some of her fondest memories were trips to the Jersey Shore and Hershey Park, sharing laughter and memories with her grandchildren.
Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband Henry, her sister and best friend Nancy DePretis, and her nephew Louis. She is survived by her devoted children Doreen (Steve), Hank (Robin), Nancy (Greg), Mark (Christine), and Mike (Lisa); her adoring grandchildren Stephen (Alicia), Jeffrey (Jenna), Dana (Mark), Alison (Jim), Michael, James, Mark Jr. (Sabrina), Brianna (Patrick), Brielle (Devon), Corrine, and Gianna; and her precious great-grandchildren: William, Jack, Kayden, Ryder, Everlynn, Carter, Charlotte, Vaeda, and Mackenzie. She also leaves behind her beloved Pittsburgh family: Andrew DePretis, Dennis (Beth), Bob (Bethann), Gina, and Melody.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 10:00 to 12:00 at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Trenton Road, Levittown, PA.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dorothea, Connie, Jen, Dorothy, and Heather for their care, compassion, and companionship, as well as to Crossroads Hospice for their support and professionalism.
