

Fred was born on April 19, 1950 in Philadelphia, the fifth of six children to Peter John Winter and Rose Susan (Apfl). He grew up in Trevose, Pa., graduated from Archbishop Wood High School in 1968, and earned an associate degree from Bucks County Community College in 1970.
On February 28th, 1970, he married Linda K. Erdman. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Frederick Jr., Donna, Matthew, and Daniel. For over 35 years, Fred worked as a laborer, carpenter, and construction superintendent, helping to build, reconstruct, and resurface many of the local and regional bridges and retaining walls in Philadelphia and the surrounding area. In October of 2021, Fred was recognized by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America as an honorary member for 50 years of continuous membership.
Fred was known for his dry quick-witted sense of humor, his dedication to his family, and the quiet way in which he led by example. He was an avid collector of coins, an enthusiastic Phillies fan, and a passionate spectator of the many sports and activities his children and grandchildren participated in.
Fred is survived by his wife Linda, his children Fred (AnnMarie) Winter Jr., Donna (Edward) Delfin, Matthew (Tiffany) Winter, and Daniel (Leah) Winter, his grandchildren Breanna, Jasmine (Vic), Ciara (Daniel), Aaron (Tiffany), Justin, Ava, Aiden, Brandon, Carlie, Dylan, Andrew, Nathan, Emma, Olivia, Chloe, Aria, Caleb, and Eliza, his great grandchildren Lorenzo, Lylah, Alonzo, Kennedy, Ezekiel, Dominic, and Kalie, his nieces and nephews, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm Friday, February 4th at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown, Pa. His funeral Mass will be held at 12:30pm Saturday, February 5th at Our Lady of Grace Church, 325 S. Bellevue Ave., Penndel, PA. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Huntingdon Valley. A reception will be announced to gather in celebration of Fred.
