George Henry Benner Jr. a loving husband to his wife Carol for 62 years, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend was called home to his heavenly Father on Friday, May 2nd at the age of 83.
George loved, served and trusted His Lord Jesus Christ. He served all through his life: Boys Brigade, an Eagle Scout, on the Deacon Board, Sunday School, President of Jian Hua Foundation (serving China missionaries) Mission Board and many mission trips. George faithfully attended Calvary Baptist for 37 years and has been a member of Riverstone Church in Yardley for the past 14 years.
George was a dedicated tractor trailer driver for UPS for 17 years , with an additional 5 years in management. Before UPS he partnered with his brother in retail management, and after UPS he worked for his brother’s store, Mapes as a jack of all trades.
He was a devoted husband and his survived by his wife Carol Lee Benner; his four children, George Benner and his wife Sharon, David Benner and his wife Lia, Stephen Benner and his wife Deanna and Cherie (Benner) Sun and her husband Jack. Grandfather to 18 grandchildren: Eric Benner, Nicholas Benner, Dani Guidry, Mandy Passmore, Andrew Benner, Garrett Benner, Matthew Benner, Travis Schmaus, Dylan Benner, Ireleigh Benner, TJ Benner, Kylee Driver, McKenna Benner, Brandy Benner, Jonah Sun, Luke Sun and Lee Benner. Great Grandfather to James and Beau Guidry, Sophia Benner and Melody Benner with 2 more on the way in July.
He has been reunited in heaven with his parents George and Margaret Benner; his brother, J Raymond Benner; his sister Margaret (Benner) Baumann; and his grandson Brandon Benner.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:30 pm at Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Rd, Levittown PA 19056. A celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 11:00am at Riverstone Church: 725 Oxford Valley Rd, Yardley PA 19067.
