Irene Knight

Irene Knight of Calabash, North Carolina died on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. She was 96. Born in new Brunswick, NJ, Mrs. Knight formerly resided in Levittown for 53 years before moving to Calabash in 1995. She worked for the Bucks County Intermediate Unit #22 in Doylestown for several years and also worked the voting polls for a time. Mrs. Knight was a talented seamstress who also enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Knight was the beloved wife of the late Vincent W. Knight. She was the loving mother of Vivian and her late husband Francis Sweeney of Sunset Beach, NC, Kenny and his wife Mary Knight of Calabash, NC with whom she resided and Nancy D. and her husband James Watts of Satellite Beach, FL. She will also be sadly missed by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SECU Hospice House and mailed to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
