James E. Cunningham

Born in Altoona, PA, son of the late Rebekah (Pickens) and James E. Cunningham Sr., he has been a long time resident of Lower Bucks County. Beloved husband of 52 years to Sandra (Locklear), Mr. Cunningham is the loving father of Matthew Cunningham and wife, AubriAnna, of Fairfax, Vermont and Tracy Cunningham of Fairless Hills; the devoted Poppy of Chase Cunningham; and the dear brother of Margaret Gallagher and Linda Peasley.

Jim was a 1966 graduate of the former Woodrow Wilson High School. He achieved his Bachelors Degree from Lock Haven University and his Masters Degree from the College of New Jersey.

He was a charter member of the New Life Christian Church in Newtown, where he taught Sunday School and was a member of the Men's Tuesday Morning Bible Study.

Mr. Cunningham taught at Pennsbury High School for 33 years and after retiring from the Pennsbury School District, went on to teach for 2 more years at Villa Victoria Academy in Ewing, NJ. He also was employed at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia for 2 years.

Mr. Cunningham was the president and founder of the Lower Bucks Ice Hockey League. He also coached for the Pennsbury High School Ice Hockey Team and the Varsity Diving team. Jim was proud to be known as "Mr. Prom" for Pennsbury's Senior Prom which he started in 1971.

He was very involved in Matt and Tracy's gymnastics by taking them to practice and meets and was president of Pancott Gymnastic Parent's Club.

Mr. Cunningham loved to travel, especially to Europe, Italy, Ireland, Scotland and the Holy Land.

Family and friends are invited to call on on Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at the New Life Christian Church, 4 Freedom Drive, Newtown, where his funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm. Interment will be held privately.
