

James E. Masters, of Fairless Hills (formally of Levittown), died Wednesday, August 04, 2010 after a brief illness. He was 88. Born in Aurora, Mo. on August 17, 1921 to the late Dr. Elzie Masters and his wife, Estella, he grew up in Missouri and Oklahoma, graduating from Miami, OK High School in 1938. After two years at Northeastern Oklahoma Junior College, he enlisted and proudly served his country during WWII in the Pacific Theater, flying "the Hump" between India and China, carrying supplies for B29's. During one mission, he and his crew were being strafed on the runway by a Japanese Zero, which they brought down using small arms fire. Upon returning from service, Sergeant James Masters married his sweetheart, Ruth, and worked as a lab technician for Rohm & Haas, for 30 years, retiring in 1976. They then enjoyed traveling extensively throughout North America. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Ruth (Stephens) Masters, and his three children and their spouses: Stephen Masters and his wife Janice; Cindy Stanford and her husband Michael; and Patrice Sedelmaier and her husband J.J. Also his seven grandchildren: Stephen Masters Jr., Jeffrey Masters, Scott Masters, Jennifer Stanford, Matthew Stanford, Chloe Sedelmaier and Logan Sedelmaier; along with his three great grandchildren: Michael, Ashleigh and Tyler. Services and interment will be held privately at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in James Masters' name can be made to Disabled Veterans of America (dav.org).
