Born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia, the son of the late Philip and Marie (Bispels) McMahon, Jim was a 1953 graduate of Abraham Lincoln H. S., later proudly serving in the U.S. Army, stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.
In his early career, Jim worked as a skilled carpenter before eventually joining the Sisters of the Good Shepherd and CORA Services, Inc. in Fox Chase, where he was plant manager for 33 years until he retired.
Jim lived the majority of his life in Levittown, PA, where he and his wife of 61 years, Rosemarie, raised their four children. Known for his easy smile and laid-back temperament, Jim spent a contented life as a devoted husband and fun father. He liked car trips, big bands, jazz, his wife's cooking, and doing the daily crossword puzzle. Independent, athletic, and an extreme lover of nature, Jim lived best with sun and wind on his face. Tennis, sailing, biking, hiking, kayaking, and working in fresh air on his home and creative projects, all fed his soul. He often said that his best day was the day he was in.
Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his son, James F. Jr., his brother, John R. McMahon, Sr., and his sisters, Phyllis Drenzyk and Lois Parker. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemarie (Cimino); his children, Mary Ann May (John), Barbara Hare (Douglas), Stephen McMahon (Victoria), and daughter-in-law, Denise Fullam McMahon; grandchildren, JT May, Lauren Long (Aaron), Zachary May (Brittny), David and Christian Hare, Isabella, Jack and Stephen McMahon; great-grandchildren, Audriana and Aaron James Long and Nora May, and many nieces and nephews.
