John M. Fidishun, Sr.

John M. Fidishun, Sr. died at his home on Sunday, November 20, 2016 peacefully surrounded by his family and friends. He was 83.Born and raised in McAdoo, PA, son of the late Julia (Kish) and George Fidishun, John was a 1951 graduate of McAdoo High School and a 1959 graduate of East Stroudsburg University, John was inducted into the Hazleton Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. He was a resident of Falls Township since 1963.He was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Parish, Morrisville. John was Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Saint Joseph the Worker Council #4215, Past Faithful Navigator for the Saint John Neumann Assembly and was also the State Treasurer and former Master of the Pennsylvania East District Calvert Province of the Knights of Columbus.John was a retired teacher and football coach at Morrisville High School, and previously coached football at Millsboro High School in Delaware. He was the founder of John's Driving School and Auto Tags in Fairless HIlls.Beloved husband of 60 years to the late Dolores A. (Wargo), John is the loving father of Dolores (Al Labonis) of Warrington; Julianne Emerick of Fairless Hills; Annette Frey (James) of Fairless Hills; and the late John M., Jr. (Denise) of Levittown; the devoted grandfather of Jason (Kelly), David, Brianne (Brian), Danielle and Eric and great grandfather of Brian, Samantha, Maddison, Paige and Zachary.He is the brother of Vera Hornick of Beaver Meadows; Margaret Bumbulsky of McAdoo and the late George Fidishun.Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, 6:00 until 9:00 pm and on Tuesday, from 8:00 until 9:00 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10:00 am at Saint John the Evangelist Church, Morrisville. Rite of Committal will follow in Washington National Crossing Cemetery.Memorial contributions in his name may be made to East Stroudsburg University Foundation, Henry A.
