It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and pop-pop John E. Smith (Jack) who passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on February 25, 2025 surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife Marie (Walther), his children Lisa Check (Bob), Kim Sheldron (Leigh), and Jack (Jenn), his grandchildren Leigh (Gwen), Shane, Bobby, Macey (Jacob) and Lauren.
Beloved brother of Joan Oshinsky (late Tom) and also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jack proudly served as a Marine with the 1st Battalion 3rd Marines in Vietnam. His service and sacrifice embodied the highest ideals of honor and duty, a time that shaped his life and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. His courage, sacrifice, and dedication to his country embodied the true spirit of a Marine. Jack found peace and contentment spending countless hours in his outdoor oasis down North Cape May, NJ. You would find him outside trimming hedges, tending to his flowers or just tinkering around in his yard for hours alongside his special buddy Camo, who will also miss him dearly.
