Joe was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Henry and Angelina Ricca. He built a career as a heavy equipment mechanic for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 542. He was inducted into the Union in 1969, and had since been a lifelong member.
Joe enjoyed tinkering in the garage and sharing his vast knowledge with the boy scouts, cub scouts and many others. He also loved traveling and spending time at his property in the Poconos. Joe enjoyed many things in his life, but nothing surpassed the time spent with his beloved family and friends. If you had the pleasure to know Joe, you know what a blessing he was to have in your life.
Joe was preceded in death by his son, Joseph S. Ricca, Jr.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Kathy Ricca, and devoted family; Kathleen and her husband Patrick, their children Anna, Patrick Jr., Andrew, Melissa, Kai, Morgan and Tony; Myke and his wife Julia; Dave and his wife Kim, their children, Maddie, Blake, Lucas, and Dominic; Dan and his fiancé Jessica, and their children Gannon and Charlee.
A visitation is set for Thursday, February 22nd from 6:00 to 9:00pm at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home in Levittown, PA. Friends and family are also welcome to a visitation on Friday, February 23rd at 9:30am at Queen of the Universe RC Church in Levittown, PA with a mass to follow at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Joe's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
