

Joseph J. Schreiner, Sr. Joseph J. Schreiner, Sr. died on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol. He was 89. Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Schreiner has been a lifetime resident of Croydon and was a member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish. Until his retirement in 1990, Mr. Schreiner was a butcher with Dietz and Watson in Philadelphia for many years. He was later employed with Carborundum/Spode in New Brunswick, NJ. He is a US Navy veteran of World War II. In his younger years, Mr. Schreiner played for Saint Ann's football and he excelled in athletics. He also coached the former Bucks County Redskins semi-pro football team and led the team to a league championship in 1983. Beloved husband of 68 years to Alberta (Newman), he was father of the late Joseph J. Jr., and is the loving father of Joann Zukowski (Michael) and Gary Schreiner both of Croydon. He is the devoted grandfather of Gary Arbour, Lori Leaman (Christopher) and Joseph Schreiner. He will also be sadly missed by his dear brother, Walter Schreiner and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Schreiner was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Schreiner and his brother, John Schreiner. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, 10:00 am, at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church, 601 Bristol Pike, Croydon. Interment will be held privately. There will be no calling hours on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Schreiner's name may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
