

Bristol Township, Pa – Kathleen McConnell, age 72 of Lower Bucks County passed away on June 14, 2021 from a lengthy battle of ALS and breast cancer.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kathleen is the daughter of Veronica T. Fitzgerald (Hohlfeld) of Levittown and the late Gerald Norman Fitzgerald.
Kathleen was the wife of the late Ronald John McConnell. She was a devoted mother to her three children and their families (1) Annemarie McConnell and her husband Kenneth Ogborn Sr., granddaughter Sarah Anne McConnell, step-grandsons Kenneth Ogborn Jr, and Casey R. Ogborn, and great-grandson Connor David Glover. (2) Joseph McConnell and wife Wendy McClure-McConnell (3) Beth Anne McConnell.
Kathleen attended Bishop Conwell High School in Levittown. During her youth she worked at Bell Telephone as an operator, then later Spiegel Inc. and Manor Care Nursing Home.
She met her high school sweetheart Ron and married him in 1968 at Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Levittown. Kathleen supported him as he served in the United States Marines and their move to Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. The couple eventually moved back in Pennsylvania, making their home first in Northeast Philadelphia and eventually settling in Bensalem, PA.
Kathleen spent every free moment she had with her young children, as a Girl Scout Volunteer, Boy Scout Den Mother, taxi driver to all their activities, and master chef. She enjoyed classical music, cooking, dancing, painting, scrabble and crossword puzzles. One of her favorite places to visit on a beautiful day was the Bristol waterfront. Kathleen and Ron took their children on annual vacations to Sea Isle City, NJ. She had many happy memories over the years watching her children grow up with her many nieces and nephews whom she loved. Her siblings are: MaryAnne Mentis, Susan McBride, Gerald Fitzgerald, John Fitzgerald, Veronica Uzzo, and Joseph Fitzgerald and their spouses.
Church was important to Kathleen when her children were growing up, and every Sunday was a ritual of prayers, board games, and family dinner.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 10:00 until 11:00 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where her memorial service will be held at 11:00 am. Interment will be held in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the Greater Philadelphia ALS Association in Kathleen’s memory.
