

Kenneth W. Hornberger Jr., a dedicated Philadelphia police officer who served at the 26th district and later at the Roundhouse, passed away on July 6, 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of service and love.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Kenneth dedicated his life to protecting and serving his community.
Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife, Paula Hornberger (nee Cichoszewski), who stood by his side through the highs and lows of life. Together, they created a strong and loving partnership that spanned decades. Their bond was unbreakable, and their love was an inspiration to all who knew them.
Kenneth is also survived by his sister, Eileen Nino (Chuck Murrow) who provided unwavering support throughout his life. Although his brother, John (Jack), preceded him in death, their shared memories will forever be cherished.
A devoted father, Kenneth leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance. He was a source of strength and inspiration to his daughters: Eileen Kiefer (Bill), Susan Bell (Jimmy), Jake Wiltshire, Christine Paz (Joe), Paula Plata, and Nicole Warriner (John). Kenneth's love for his daughters knew no bounds, and he always encouraged them to pursue their dreams.
Kenneth's legacy also includes numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and happiness to his life. He cherished the time spent with them, sharing stories, imparting wisdom, and creating lasting bonds that will be remembered by his family for years to come.
Kenneth had a keen mind and enjoyed challenging himself intellectually. He had a passion for puzzles, cryptograms, and solving the Rubik's Cube. His love for these activities showcased his perseverance and problem-solving skills.
Kenneth was also an active participant in the Masonic community, achieving the esteemed rank of Master Mason. His dedication to brotherhood and the principles of Freemasonry was an integral part of his life. Additionally, Kenneth was a proud member of the Shriners organization, embodying their spirit of compassion and support for children in need.
In retirement, Kenneth and his wife embarked on new adventures, traveling the world together. They explored new cultures, experienced breathtaking sights, and created memories that will be cherished forever.
Kenneth's daily activities were meticulously documented through his journals, a practice that he diligently maintained. Even in his later years, his daughters continued this tradition, ensuring that his life and experiences were preserved for future generations.

A funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate Kenneth's life on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 11:30 am until 1 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery, 25 Byberry Road, Huntington Valley, PA. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and share in the memories of a remarkable man who made a difference in the lives of many.
