He was born and raised in Langhorne, PA. Kyle was a dearly beloved musician, teacher, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of unrivaled diligence, tenacity, and musicianship. Anyone who had the privilege to hear Kyle sing or play piano knew that they were witness to something — someone — singular and special. Kyle has touched the lives of countless students and fellow performers throughout his musical career. Every student who has had the great fortune of learning from Kyle was not simply guided down a path of superior musicianship, but they were also granted a role model who exhibited the traits that are most deeply associated with the beauty of music: empathy, kindness, compassion, grace, and love.
He was predeceased by his grandfather, Charles "Pop" Duke and his grandmom, Lona Miller; he leaves behind his loving parents, John and Barbara Duke; his brother, Matt Duke; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a loving grandmom; his beautiful dogs, Ruby and Hope; and a devoted, brokenhearted network of friends.
Every soul that Kyle touched is better for having known his light and felt his warmth. Kyle was a fierce friend: he would stop at nothing to help when those friends were in need and expected nothing but love in return. Whether it was at Neshaminy, West Chester, or in adulthood, those lucky enough to cross Kyle’s fleeting, beautiful path and call him a friend were blessed beyond measure. Kyle was a force of deeply beautiful humanity — his magnificent flame was extinguished too soon. His music, his spirit, and his love will live on in his friends, family, and students who will hold him within their broken, grateful hearts forever. Thank you, Kyle — you are the best of us. We will miss you.
