Born in the Bronx, NY to the late Denis and Lena (Small) Murphy, she relocated to the lower Bucks area in 1952. She was a 1959 graduate of Villa Joseph María in Holland, PA. She met her future husband, Anthony, while he was in the Army at a USO dance in Trenton, NJ. They married in 1961. She was a member of Immaculate Conception B.V.M. of Levittown, moving to Queen of the Universe Church when it closed.
Lena was a member of the Take Off and Travel Club, and went on many bus trips with them. She also enjoyed spending time at Seaside Heights, NJ with all the family. While Lena worked many jobs for the Nagle Family, the job she most treasured was taking care of her family.
Lena is predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband of 59 years, Anthony E. Souza; her grandson, Anthony E. Souza IV; her siblings, Denis Murphy, Margaret Regan, and Patrick Murphy; and her best friend, Peg McGovern. She is survived by her children, Anthony E. Souza III (Kimberly), Daniel Souza, and Michael Souza (Bernadette); her grandchildren, Steven Souza, Walter Higgins (Erin), and Evan Souza (Alora); her great grandchildren, Shane Higgins and Mallory Higgins.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania 19056. A funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM. Burial will occur Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 12:30 PM at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, Pennsylvania 19020.
