

Loretta Lucas died peacefully after complications of Alzheimer's disease and stroke, at her Yardley home of 45 years. Her passing occurred this Sunday, moments before her home parish, St. Ignatius Church of Yardley was to celebrate her regularly attended 11:30 Mass. Loretta will be remembered by everyone who knew her for her commitment to family, faith, and friends. Often heard assuring those she cared for, "Things always work out for the best."
Born to Daniel and Agnes Laurinaitis from New Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Loretta was the eldest to her twin sister Lorraine Farrell and younger sister, Marie Kahler, both still residing in Schuylkill County. Coming of age in the 1950's for Loretta meant to be a diligent student at Nativity BVM H.S. in Pottsville, learn the latest dance steps watching American Bandstand after school and to attend weekly church dances.
Loretta married Thomas A. Lucas in 1961 and together they had four children, Kathleen Lucas Cardinal, JoAnn Lucas Kenehan, Tom Lucas, and Dan Lucas. She was in love with and devoted to Tom for over 61 years of marriage. Loretta became involved and enjoyed many of her children's activities including scouts, school trips, musical performances, and many of Tom and Dan's football games. Attended Bucks County Community College earning a Bookkeeping degree, created a dressmaking and window treatment business. Loretta's volunteer time in her parish took a leading focus throughout her married life. At St. Ignatius church she held positions in multiple ministries including Liturgical alter and floral decorations, Eucharistic Minister to St. Mary's Hospital, and founder of Aid for Friends at St. Ignatius and other Bucks County parishes.
Loretta took great delight in her 7 grandsons, Lucas, Ryan, Connor, Taylor, Ross, Carter, Alec and her 3 granddaughters, Riley, Jaxyn, and Harper. Known to be a wonderful cook and gracious host for many holiday celebrations and Bethany Beach house gatherings. She enjoyed attending with Tom annual destination work conventions and September reunions with high school friends.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 10:30 until 10:50 am St. Ignatius of Antioch Church, 999 Reading Avenue, Yardley, PA, where her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. The burial will follow at St. Mary Star of the Sea Cemetery, Llewellyn Road, Llewellyn, PA 17944.
