

Martha Terry Farina, age 80, of Little River, SC, died in peace on Monday, August 14, 2017. Born and raised in Lansford, PA, the daughter of Croatian immigrants, George Terihaj and Agatha (Rubinic), Martha graduated from Lansford High School in 1954. She participated in several school clubs and performances playing the accordion and acting in school plays. She enjoyed "the good ole days" hiking, swimming, ice skating and hanging at the soda shop with her school pals.She moved to Levittown, PA shortly after graduating high school and lived there until she retired to Little River, SC after working as an insurance agent for two decades. Martha, a devout Catholic, was a member of Queen of the Universe Church while living in Levittown and Our Lady Star of the Sea in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Over the years, she enjoyed walking on the sand and collecting shells at the Jersey Shore and Myrtle Beach, antiquing at flea markets, and cooking and baking for family and friends. She loved entertaining at home as well as spending time visiting extended family across the country and in Canada. Throughout her life, Martha felt compelled to donate her time, money and belongings to the needy, always looking out for the less fortunate even if they were strangers. She also had a place in her heart for animals and had rescued and adopted several cats over the years.Martha will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt who always made time for loved ones whether it was to craft a gift, write a letter, send a care package, make a phone call, or petition the Blessed Mother for extra prayers no matter how tired or busy she was. She was the epitome of a giver, not a taker.Mrs. Farina is the loving mother of Gregory J. of Levittown and Claudine and her husband, Christopher Remmey of Wall, NJ. She will also be sadly missed by one grandchild, Sophie Remmey; and several nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her husband, Ronald J. Farina; her brother, Steven Terry; and her sisters, Anne Rydzewski and Helen Adamoyurka. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday evening of August 24th from 6pm to 8pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown, PA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 25th at 12pm at Queen of the Universe Church, Levittown. A private burial will follow at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either the local SPCA or the local Food Bank.
