Richard M. O'Connell

Richard M. O'Connell, of Levittown, died on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Manor Care in Lower Makefield surrounded by his loving family. He was 64. Born in Philadelphia, Mr. O'Connell has been a resident of Levittown since 1957. He was a teacher in the Pennsbury School District at Pennwood Middle School for 30 years until retiring in 1999. He was a member of Queen of the Universe parish. Mr. O'Connell was an avid golfer and a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He enjoyed working around his home, but mostly he loved to spend time with his family. Mr. O'Connell was the beloved husband of Barbara J. (Spilker) for 43 years. He was the loving father of Michael and his wife Erin O'Connell and Jenny and her husband Chris Craig. He was a devoted grandfather of Grady, Celia and Quintin Craig and Michael and Jason O'Connell. Son of the late Richard and Jane O'Connell, he was the brother of Suzanne Bradley, Jane Ditmars, Patricia O'Connell, Kathleen (Jeff) Wallace, Mary Beth (Bill) Hickey, Kevin (Lisa) O'Connell and Brian (Jennifer) O'Connell. He will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Rd., Levittown where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow in Rosedale Memorial Park.
