Richard John Schaefer

Richard John Schaefer Richard John Schaefer died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 8, 2011. He was 83. Born and raised in Laurel Springs, NJ, he was a former Bristol Township resident and had resided in Middletown Township for the past 44 years. Mr. Schaefer was a desk test technician with Bell of Pennsylvania, Levittown, for 32 years until his retirement in December, 1982. He was a member of the Bell Tell Pioneers and Athletic Association. He was a veteran of the US Navy and US Coast Guard having served during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Memorial Post 960, Levittown. Mr. Schaefer and his wife served with the Youth and Adult Discovery/Journey Program which gathered at Saint Agnes Church in Westville, NJ, and were active members of the social committee at Our Lady of Grace Church, Penndel. Beloved husband of nearly 52 years to Roberta A. (Noyalis), Mr. Schaefer is the loving father of four children; Constance H. Marinello and husband Thomas of Limerick, Warren W. and wife Diana of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Richard James of Palm Springs, CA and Charles J. and wife Miriam of Glenolden. He will also be sadly missed by his 7 grandchildren, his brother, Edward C. Schaefer of Palm Desert, CA and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, 10:30 until 11:30 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
