

Robert, fondly known as Bob, was born to Patricia Mary Cooney and George Joseph Barrett, on August 5, 1957, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1976. Bob had an established career as a Railroad Engineer, working for Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation (SEPTA) for four years and New Jersey Transit (NJT) for thirty-four years.
Bob is survived by his wife Michele Barrett, his three children; Robert Barrett Jr. husband of Jen Barrett; Stephen Barrett husband of Heather Vanselous-Barrett, and Chloe Barrett fiance’ of Jordin Hill. His four grandchildren Bradley Barrett, Aubrey Barrett, Logan Barrett, and Sonia Barrett; and his siblings Matthew Barrett, Michael Barrett, John Barrett, and Kathleen Lincoln. Bob is predeceased by his brother George.
Bob was a kind and loving man to every person he would meet. He was known to be quick with a joke and to always bring a smile to anyone's face. He frequently gave the sandwich from his hand to the homeless at Penn Station in Manhattan where he worked. Bob was also a volunteer baseball coach and an active member of the Pennsbury Falcon wrestling club while his two boys, Robert Jr. and Stephen, wrestled for the same club.
Bob’s hobbies included fishing, bicycling, playing guitar, vacationing to the Jersey shore every summer, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member of L.A. Fitness for five years as well as a thirty-eight-year member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET).
Bob’s family will host a celebration of life on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Bob was a huge fan of Philadelphia professional sports so please feel free to wear your favorite Philadelphia sports clothing attire. The celebration of life will be at Dougherty Funeral Home at 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers and decorations, please consider donating to the American Liver Association in Bob’s name.
