Born July 3, 1970, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was a lifelong resident of Levittown and a 1988 graduate of Bishop Egan High School.
Rob’s early love of trains led him to his dream job with Amtrak as a reservation specialist. A gentle and kind-hearted man, he found simple joy in the things he loved most—especially time with family.
Rob’s “happy place” was Ocean City, New Jersey, where he traditionally spent his birthday week with family since childhood. He was happiest sitting by the ocean or strolling the boardwalk with ice cream in hand. Rob was also a devoted movie buff and sci-fi enthusiast, and his warm presence endeared him to all who met him.
Rob follows his mother, Agnes (McGuinn) McCartney, and his father, Robert J. McCartney, on this final adventure.
He will be deeply missed by his loving sister, Lorraine (McCartney) Takacs, and brother-in-law, James. Rob was the proud uncle of Chris, Chrissy, Danny, Billy, Caroline, Felix, Kara, and Sophia. He will also be missed by his huge Irish family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Final arrangements will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Rob’s name to the American Cancer Society, 1818 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
