He was preceded by his mother Marie O’Neil. He was born on June 2nd 1962 in Camden Nj. He was raised with his siblings, Richard Shetzline, Kathy Frei (O’Neil) and William O’Neil.
Bob enlisted in the Army at age 17. He was stationed at Fort Hood in Texas and was in the 2nd Armored Division (“Hell on Wheels”). There he was an Artillery Fire Direction Specialist. As a proud American who always made it a point to celebrate our freedom, serving his country was Bob's greatest achievement
He married the love of his life on September 3rd 1988, Kathy O’Neil (Hancin). They shared their lives together for 37 years. They had 2 beautiful children together, Rj and Jess. He enjoyed nothing more than being a dad. Being a sports lover, he couldn’t have been more proud when Jess played softball. He never missed a softball game or a moment to brag about how talented his daughter was on the field. He enjoyed sharing his deep love of music with Rj - especially Rush who they’ve seen together countless times. He loved when Rj started playing the drums and even missed hearing him practice when he moved out.
Bob was an animal lover and you’d often find him with a Rottweiler by his side. Currently, Darby and Bella kept him company everyday.
Bob was so proud of the adults his children have become. He enjoyed nothing more than having his kids and their partners come over and watch the Eagles or Phillies with him. He loved his son-in-law, Bob, and Rj’s partner, Janelle, like his own. He cried tears of joy when Jess and Bob had their first daughter, Marilyn. He was the proudest Pop Pop and said it was the best title he could have ever been given. She lit up his life brighter than he could have ever imagined.
Bob will be greatly missed. We will often be reminded of his spirit in every Rush song that we hear, and in every Eagles and Phillies game that we watch. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations in Bob’s name to the Guardians of the National Cemetery.
A visitation for Bob will be held Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 66 Levittown Pkwy, Levittown, Pennsylvania 19054, interment to follow.
