Ruth Masters

Ruth (Stephens) Masters, age 95, of Newtown, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Saint Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA on Saturday, October 27, 2018.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James E. Masters in 2010, after 65 years of marriage.Ruth was born in Scranton, PA, January 19, 1923, and was raised in Philadelphia, PA by her parents, the late Robert and Ida Stephens. After marrying in 1945, Ruth and Jim lived in Bristol Township until 1958, before moving to Quincy Hollow in Middletown Township, where they spent the next 19 years raising their children. They moved to Fairless Hills in 1977, and spent many years traveling extensively throughout America, often spending winters in Florida.Ruth was a loving mom, grandmom and great grandmom and is survived by her 3 children - Stephen Masters (Janice), Cynthia Stanford (Michael) and Patrice Sedelmaier (J.J.), plus 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.Ruth enjoyed working in customer service and sales and happily did so until she was 85 years old for a variety of companies, including Reedman's, Macy's and Kohl's.After her husband passed, Ruth moved to Gloria Dei Plaza in Newtown and spent her last 7 years there, making and having friendships and enjoying a multitude of of activities.There was a private funeral service on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the Gloria Dei Plaza Residents Association, 460 S. State Street, Newtown, PA 18940.
