Thomas A. Gilligan

Thomas A. Gilligan age 56, of Newark, Delaware, suddenly passed away on Wednesday May 9, 2012 at his residence. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Tom was a resident of Delaware for over 30 years. He was a 1973 graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School. Tom graduated from Drexel University in 1978, where he received his B.S. in Accounting. Tom was employed as a Certified Public Accountant with Horty & Horty C.P.A.'s in Wilmington Delaware where he has been since 1978. As Vice President of the firm, Tom oversees the operations of the firms in-house accounting department. Tom was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Delaware Society of Certified Public Accountants (DSCPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). Tom was a member of White Clay Creek Country Club in Delaware. He enjoyed his summers in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. Tom will also be fondly remembered for hosting his special events that brought pleasure to many, especially his "Blue Christmas" Party and his "Eagles Bye" golf outing. Beloved husband of the late Carol L. (nee Hastings). Devoted son of Margaret (nee Grace) and the late William R., Sr. Loving brother of William (Julie), Grace Glennon, Marjorie McCann, Paula Campbell (John Witmer). Greatest uncle in the world to Kelli, Greg, Colleen, Thomas, Jacquelyn, Jimmy, Rian, Tessa, Megan, Keara, Michael, Kerianne, Sloane, Ava, Colin and Brendan. Also survived by numerous aunts, many cousins, and especially the Bonner family. Relatives and friends will be received Sunday 6-9 p.m. at John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. Additional calling hour will be Monday 9:30-10:45 a.m. at St. Katherine of Siena Church, 9700 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19114.
