Born and raised in Chiclayo, Peru to Carlos Solis and Marina Lucumi, he was the youngest boy of 12 children. He was a veteran of the Peruvian Navy, having served as an electrical engineer aboard submarines. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 29, where he settled in Northeast Philadelphia, proudly obtained his citizenship, and started a family. For the last 24 years, he resided in Fairless Hills with his wife, Sandi.
For 40 years, Victor worked as an electrical maintenance technician for companies such as Avery Dennison Soabar, Klearfold, Inc., and Electronic Techtonics Corporation (ETC) until his retirement in 2014. As a devoted catholic, he could be found sitting in the 4th pew of St. Frances Cabrini church, every Sunday morning. Along with his faith, Victor was a man of many passions; he loved music and dancing as well as hunting and fishing. Everyone he met knew him to be a diehard Eagles fan, who never missed a game and was proud to cheer the team on with his beloved dogs, Amy and Molly, by his side.
He was incredibly selfless and was considered everyone's go-to "handyman". He had the most boisterous laugh and infectious smile that touched every person he met. He was the kindest, gentlest soul who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Victor is survived by his wife, Sandi (Young), of 24 years; his daughter, Kimberly Solis; his stepsons, Larry Young (Kelly) and Les Young (Michele); his grandchildren, Jordan (Kaitlyn), Ryan (Caitlin), Bailey, Kylie and Kendall Young. He is also survived by many sibling, nieces, nephews, and extended family in Virginia and Peru. He was predeceased by wife Bobbi (Levine).
A celebration of Victor's life will be held on a future date. Arrangements will be announced soon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market St., #102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
