

William J. Klein passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, November 28, 2012. He was 87. Born and raised in Mahanoy City, he was an original Levittown homeowner and a member of Queen of the Universe Parish. Mr. Klein enlisted in the US Navy during his senior year of high school. He spent most of his enlisted time in the Phillipines and Guam. Upon his return to the US, he married, was in the reserves, fathered his 4 daughters, and was successful in completing his BS from LaSalle College. In 1958, Mr.Klein made the local papers when he delivered his son at home during a heavy snowstorm. He was employed as a surgical supply salesman prior to his retirement in 1981. He then went to work as real estate agent for several years. An avid reader, Mr. Klein also enjoyed antiquity and researching his family tree. He also enjoyed traveling. Mr. Klein was a devoted family man and was always eager to help his grandchildren with a school project, cheer them on at a school play or their sporting events. He was the son of the late Catherine (King) and Ewald Klein and brother of the late Mary Marre. Mr. Klein is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary L. (Collins) and his devoted children, Margie Pezzuti (Roger), Susie Bacevich (the late Ron), Patty Michael (Joe), Betty Kovalcheck (Tom) and Bill Klein (Valerie). He will also be sadly missed by his 15 grandchildren, Michele, Renee, Nicole, Beth, Jill, Jimmy, Jenna, Keith, Brett, Joe, Andy, Katie, Be, Bill and Jonathan; his 16 great grandchildren; his brother, Jack (Mary) and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and on Monday, from 8:30 until 9:30 am at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, at 10:00 am at Queen of the Universe Church followed by Rite of Committal in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to further benefit children with autism like his great grandson, Sam, through the Bankbridge Development Center, 550 Salina Road, Sewell, NJ 08080 or to the Monastery of Saint Clare, 1271 Langhorne-Newtown Road, Langhorne, PA 19047.
