Lewiston: Agnes M. Page Gardner passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on May 22, 2011. She was born on September 12,1913 to Giola and Harold P. Page of East Livermore. Raised on a farm she knew the importance of education and worked extremely hard to acquire her high school diploma from Livermore Falls High School often walking several miles on lonely roads to and from school. She then married Edmund S. Gardner of Sabattus. Together they raised three children during 47 years of marriage. During those years she was a wonderful stay at home caring mom until the last child started school. She then went to work at Ward’s Clothing Store and then to Peck’s Department Store where she worked for many years. When she left there she worked for the Lewiston Sun Journal as a proofreader for 10 years before retiring. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. Her heart was always loving, giving, and forgiving and she loved her children unconditionally. No one could ask for a better Mom or Nana and she will be missed greatly but will live on in our hearts. She taught us how to love and our Father in Heaven surely welcomes her home. She was spirited always making someone smile that matched her own beautiful smile. Following a massive stroke, Marshwood Nursing Care Center was her home for the last 17 years. She made many new friends that became family to her. Her cheerfulness was contagious and her ministry was bringing sunshine to others around her. We want to thank everyone at Marshwood from Social Workers, to Therapist, Nurses to CNA’s, Laundry Personnel, Kitchen Personnel, Housekeeping and so many, many more. Many of them also grew to love her and will miss her smiling face. We really appreciate all the wonderful care and sacrificial work they performed to make her feel at home there.
She leaves behind her son, Edmund S. Garner JR. of Yarmouth, daughter Colleen DeHayes and husband Allan DeHayes of Turner and son in law Dean Falls of Nevada, grandchildren: Edmund S. Gardner III of Portland, Cinthia Morin of Florida, Eric Gardner of Auburn, Tammy Mahan and husband Mitchell of Iowa, Richard Edwards and wife Matina of Arkansas, James Edwards of Auburn, Wendy Rehdorf, Paul DeHayes of Brunswick, Scott Biron and wife April of Litchfield, Peter Biron and wife Lisa of Lewiston; 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great- great grandchildren.
