

Auburn- On Thursday July 21, 2011 after 100 years, 1 month and 19 days of wonderful life, God has taken Albert “Rudy” Fongemie with him home to Heaven. Born in St. Agathe on June 2, 1911 the oldest child of the late Octave and Marie (Bouchard) Fongemie. Albert lived in Lewiston with his daughter Rachel up until 1 day before his death.
Albert worked as a janitor in the mills and other jobs until he started working at the Lewiston Public Works Department. He loved his job, the people he worked with and stayed until his retirement when he turned 62. He went on to driving school buses and enjoyed the many children he came in contact with. They also cared deeply for him, Albert stopped driving when he turned 80.
He finally retired but never stopped. He enjoyed walking, mowing lawns and staying busy, his favorite pastime was playing solitaire.
Gardening was his passion and he had the biggest garden every year with plenty of veggies to share with his family.
Albert also enjoyed the winters in Florida where he felt the warm air and was able to have a garden there as well.
His children were his life as unselfishly he was always there for them. He was a wonderful friend, a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather. His smile was as big as the moon!! He will be deeply missed by all whom loved him!!
He is survived by three daughter; Rachel and her husband Rene Montminy, Ruby and her husband Roland Goupil and Rhonda and her fiancé Sean Youness, six sons; Raymond and his wife Mona, Ron and his fiancé Eileen, Roland and his wife Sandy, Rainey and his wife Cindy, Roger and Real, a sister; Azelda Rossignol, twenty four grandchildren, thirty three great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Rita, his son Dicky and two brothers Maurice and Leonard.
We love you with all our hearts and will miss you Pa Pa……Until we meet again.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday 11:00 AM at the Basilica of Sts. Peter & Paul (lower chapel). Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
