

AUBURN - Bertrand A. Dutil 90, of Clover Manor died Friday June 24th of Armand (Flash) and Cecile (Lambert) Dutil. He was born raised and schooled in Lewiston and was a member of the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
Before his retirement, he was employed by Berman & Simmons trail lawyers, a shoe worker at Bell-Moc, Knapp Shoe, and Commonwealth Shoe. He was a member of the Franco-American War Veterans Post 31, American Legion Post 22, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11, Veteran of Foreign War Post 9150 (merged with 1603 of Auburn) all of Lewiston, and Les Indiens Snowshoe Club,Lewiston Senor Citizens, a Past Commissioner of the Lewiston Housing Authority for 12 years and was a volunteer at the Franco American Heritage Center.
He was past President of the American Snowshoe Union, Fraternal Snowshoe Union of Maine. Worked at he Franco American Festival that was held several years in Kennedy Park, past National Commander of the Franco Veterans, past President of Franco American Post 31, Director of Pine Tree Warriors Drum and Bugle Corps, Chairman 9 years of the L&A Veterans Council, and up to his death was an advisor. He was also a member of the Committee based Outpatient Clinic for Veterans (CBOC) of Lewiston, past member of Magic Pops Chorus and the Just Us Entertainers.
While in the US Army he served in the Korean War with the 40th Division and the United Nation Command, Military Armistice Commission, upon returning home he joined the 76t Division of the Army Reserve and was Honorably discharged with rank of E-7 after 16 years.
In April of 1998 he had the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC. He loved to organize and travel with Seniors and loved attending Drum Corps contests. His hobbies were having coffee with his veteran buddies, taking photos, Making photo albums and playing cards with friends.
His best trip was in April of 2018 with the Honor Flight Maine going to Washington DC to visit Vetrans Monuments for 3 days.
He leaves his Godchild Pat Crowell and several first cousins, many 2nd cousins (Debbie Robitaille and many others) and so many friends and veterans.
Bert would like to give a special thank-you to Pat Crowell, Debbie Robitaille, and Pauline Ellis who have helped him in old age and moved him to assisted living at Clover Manor in Auburn.
