
Donald E. Fuller, 85, of 1777 Riverside Drive, Auburn, passed away peacefully on Nov. 3, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.He was born in New Gloucester, Maine, June 6, 1921, the son of Robert and Iva Robinson Fuller and was educated in New Gloucester and Auburn Schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1939. On May 3, 1942 he married the former Laura M. Van-Eck of Auburn, Me. That same year he enlisted in the army and studied basic engineering at Norwich University in North Field, Vt. In 1944 he was sent to WW II's European Front with the 17th Airborne Division as a mechanic and paratrooper. Donald drove truck for the Herrick Company for many years leaving in 1960 to work for the U.S. Post Office. He worked at the Sectional Center for 20 years, retiring in 1981 to spend time with his beloved wife Laura. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family, reading and woodworking. He spent much time at the Auburn Public Library and always had a selection of books by his chair to read with the company of his cat, CP, on his lap. He is survived by four loving and devoted daughters, Elaine Robinson and her husband, Patrick of Miami, Fl., Sheila Blodgett and her husband, William of Richmond, Va., Kathleen Cutler and her husband, William of Auburn, and June Fuller and her partner, Mary Lou Dow of Auburn; one sister-in-law, Helen Holub and her husband, George, of Downer's Grove, Ill., seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to the staff of The Family Health Care Associates of Auburn where our dad received excellent health care for many years and felt like a member of a special family. We also wish to thank the emergency room staff, I.C.U. staff, the M4 Staff of Central Maine Medical Center and the Hospice House staff of Auburn for the care and support they gave our father and his family in his illness and his final days. Donald was predeceased by his wife, Laura M.Fuller, a son, Robert E. Fuller of Auburn, and three brothers, Francis Fuller of Poland, Clarence Fuller of Auburn and Robert Fuller of Florida. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception at Rolandeau's Restaurant, Washington St, Auburn, on Saturday, November 11 at 1:30 to commemorate and celebrate Donald's life.
