TOGUS - Gerald A. Bachand, 67, of Lewiston, died on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Togus, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Lewiston on August 16, 1950, the son of Laurent and Georgette (Plante) Bachand.He was educated in Tampa, FL and Lewiston schools. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and was a Fire Control Technician 3rd Class. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church. He attended the University of Maine at Farmington, and graduated with a BS in Rehabilitation and Counseling. He did volunteer work for the Red Cross teaching CPR, First Call, and Community Concept. Gerald is survived by his mother; his brothers, Robert of Alaska and Michael of Standish; 2 nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father and his sister-in-law, Amanda.
