

TURNER- Janice Mae (Jordan) Millett died peacefully in her home on Friday May 29, 2009 surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Auburn on July 24, 1935 to Leroy and Wilma (Reed) Jordan. Raised in Turner, she graduated from Leavitt Institute and then Pelletier's School of Hair Design.She was married in 1955 to Gordon Millett, son of Leland and Doris (Brown) Millett of Norway. Gordon and Janice lived in Waltham, MA., and Newport News, VA before returning to Turner to raise their family. Janice managed the administrative duties of her husband's company while working for the Turner School Lunch Program. She retired at the Nutrition Director for the Auburn School Department. After retirement she volunteered for Androscoggin Home Health. Janice enjoyed spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens, grandchildren's events and achievements and helping others. She spent winters at her home in Pine Island, FL and much of the summer at her cottage on Bear Pond. Travel was a favorite past time taking her to Ireland, England, France, Mexico, Hawaii and many Caribbean Islands. Gordon and Janice also traveled in their RV across the US and Canada. She had many talents including cooking, sewing, gardening and interior design. She valued continued education by attending many Elderhostel trips and also supporting her grandchildren in the pursuit of theirs. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gordon Millett of Turner; Mother, Wilma (Reed) Jordan of Turner; three children Karen Adams of Bokeelia, FL, Keith Millett of Turner, Kirt Millett of North Turner; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; Brother, Arlen Jordan of Turner; Sister, Carmen Jenkins of Turner.She was predeceased by her father Leroy Jordan of Turner; Mother and Father-in-law Leland and Doris Millett of Norway. A Memorial service honoring Janice's life will be celebrated on Friday 11AM at the Turner Center Universalist Church in Turner with Pastor Stanley Tanner and Pastor Dave Bochtler officiating.
