It is with profound sadness that the family of Jeannette Lillian Lajoie, announces her peaceful passing on March 13th, 2025, in her daughter’s home in Reidsville, North Carolina. At 72 years old, Jeannette spent the last decade of her life battling cancer, and through the trials of it all, she kept a positive attitude, absolutely bound and determined to beat it.
Jeannette was born in Lewiston, Maine, on November 2nd, 1952, to Roger and Theresa Cote. She grew up quickly and faced a tough life; in spite of this, she raised 3 children and always found a way to persevere. Ever a tough woman, she spent most of her years as a hardworking employee in both manufacturing and retail, a diligent employee who never missed a day. Most of all, Jeannette enjoyed spending quality time with her loved ones.
A lot of things could be said about Jeannette, but a defining quality most would note is that she was a fun-loving, silly woman who acted only out of compassion and empathy. She had a natural way of making anyone laugh, no matter the circumstance. Even in the final weeks of her life, she was making the hospice care team smile and making her family laugh with her frequent flighty moments. She was affectionately known amongst her grandchildren as Gram, and Memere The Joy. She was a very special woman and meant a lot to many people. A mother with unconditional love and a supportive grandmother to many, she will never be forgotten, and may we always remember her with a smile on our faces, for it is no doubt what she would want most.
Jeannette is survived by her mother, Theresa Cote; brother Bert Cote, and sister Laura Gagne; daughter Tina Ouellette and her significant other Ron Devlin; son Scott Ouellette and wife Amber, daughter Erica Vernon and husband Ernest; her grandchildren Jonathan, Nateasha, Mardea, Taylor, Kody, Lexie, Devyn, Julian, and Jamison; and her 10 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rockingham County Hospice for the comfort they provided her in her final days.
The Viewing and Visitation Service will be from 11 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, at The Fortin & Pinette Group Funeral Home in Lewiston, Maine. A Liturgy of the Word will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery.
